Ok, so I'm doing mostly good with sticking to my Bedroom project. I've made the bed pretty much everyday.. maybe not first thing in the morning every time, but at least at some point before noon. I think that's progress :)
I've managed to keep my closet floor free and clear of clothes thrown all over, as well as putting clothes away that I tried on and decided not to wear. I am, however, sitting next to a laundry basket of folded clothes that need to be put away from last night.. so I sloughed on that one.. no excuses. Well, of course there are excuses.. I was doing work stuff last night.. however, I still could have found a minute to do it and I didn't. I've also managed to keep up on work papers and keeping organized with that. I have been keeping "work" stuff at my desk. Papers are organized and everything isn't scattered amongst the couch! HUGE progress there! It does mean that I don't get a lot of work related items done throughout the day time as much with my nephew here, but I still get some done. I don't mind to take the computer out there to finish up a few things if needed, but my plan was to not have all my work scattered in the living room and unorganized, and I'm doing well with that. Yay. Makes me feel good.
Speaking of work, I really need to be getting some done while I have a chance, but I thought I'd do this first :)
On the craft side of life, I've been slowly working on scarves to sell, and actually sold another one yesterday at my mother-in-law's restaurant.
I'm loving this! I haven't even put any up on my Etsy page yet.. lol.. I could put pictures of the ones I've made and if someone wants one similar I could make it real quick, but I'm afraid to do it that way for obvious reasons..(I tend to procrastinate.... me? procrastinate?..hmm...) So I think I'll stick to what I'm doing for now. I'll just have to get faster and make them more often to have a stock of items to sell. You should see how much yarn I have.. gah! and on top of that, my car keeps driving to these stores where they sell it and, well if I'm there, I have to buy more! Can't waste a trip to Hobby Lobby! lol... AND.. I found a local yarn store.. probably NOT a good thing! LOL. I can see the money flying out of my wallet now! I just gotta keep it coming in to make up for it!
It's so much fun though. I love it. I'm weird. I need to be finishing the Alpaca yarn scarf I just started.. and I have hats I need to make, and I want to make a shawl, and I have two friends I promised scarves to.. man this is crazy! I can't keep up! I guess I know what I'll be spending my summer working on..! Stocking up for Winter!
Welp. I'm not being house or work productive sitting here. I'm going to go eat more croissants from Publix, -my Favorite grocery store that's going to get my in trouble with my budget- and get to it!
Come back for more soon :)
Since I don't generally make New Year's resolutions, I hate to post this, but this is one thing I've been wanting to work on, and figure, since I'm sitting here taking a small break from a major project that has everything to do with what I'll call my 'new years resolution' I'll do it. It has nothing to do with diet, exercise, food or smoking. lol.
I'm in the middle of a major cleaning and organizing frenzy in my bedroom. The room that always gets put last on the list, since it's mostly only slept in, and the door is shut when company arrives. lol. I hate that. I want a clean, organized bedroom.. and not just the bedroom, but all the rooms and my mind and everything!
I recently started working from home. Which I love! I tend to make the living room my daytime office, since I also watch my nephew as well. So I usually have my laptop, paperwork, pens, phones, notes, and everything taking up half the couch... which is ok at times.. BUT.. it's usually a total unorganized mess! Which I hate. I throw stuff here and there with no real system in place and then can't find what I'm looking for...
So...
Step One: Get a good filing/work system.
Step Two: STICK TO IT!
Have I mentioned that I'm really good and the initial cleaning/organizing step.. just not so much with Step Two.. STICKING TO IT! I.. get.... lazy! lol.. can you believe that?! Me? Lazy?!.. lol. I think this is a bad habit I've had throughout my work career for sure. I can look back and recall many times I've done this over and over.
This applies to the bedroom/laundry/bathroom/kitchen as well.. well, the kitchen not nearly so much, since I'm always in there, it's usually quite organized and clean... but we'll get back to that shortly.
So today, I figure the best way to start this New years Project, we'll call it, instead of resolution, since those are stupid.. Mine is a project..(probably an ongoing on for the rest of my life).. is to start in the worst room in the house. The LOOMING BEDROOM!..
First thing this morning I got on it. Moving stuff, cleaning stuff, getting rid of STUFF!.. I actually enjoy this more than I like to admit.. I'm a weirdo that enjoys cleaning. (and I get side-tracked easily)
Actually, I began a closet-getting-rid-of-stuff-project last week, so today is really a continuation of that. But either way.. I'm working and working today on putting things together that belong, getting rid of junk I haven't touched or used in a year or more (I hate to admit).. and watching this crap hit the Donation bag or the TRASH bag!
I think the key with the bedroom are just a few small things I need to get in the habit of.. that's the key to any resolution project working, is to do it long enough to make it become a habit.. that and of course making up your mind to do it! lol
SO..
1. Get up and make the bed...
I think this sets the tone for the day. I hate seeing a cluttered unmade bed all day. Plus I tend to be more prone to throw clothes all over the unmade bed and then they end up back and forth from the bed to the basket to the chair to the bed.. you know the routine.
2. PUT AWAY LAUNDRY. ASAP!
This is huge to me. If I can get myself to put the clothes away that I've just washed, that's one thing, but my biggest problem is that when I change and rechange my outfit over and over, I throw those clothes all over, and start the mess all over.
3. ALWAYS HAVE DIRTY LAUNDRY HAMPER AVAILABLE!
This actually coincides with putting laundry away.. so that shouldn't be too hard to accomplish once I've gotten thru step 2.
Well, that's the most of it for the bedroom.. of course there are other things I want to work on, like keeping my jewelry put away, and keeping everything dusted, blah blah.. but these 3 things are the makers and breakers of a mostly clean room that make me sooo much happier :)
I think the bedroom project can help me keep other things organized in life.. like work, and my craftroom.. but that's a project for a whole different day ;)
Thoughts..
Don't Put it off.. Do It NOW!
